Roppongi Area Overview
Roppongi is a town that's brimming with an international atmosphere. The area around Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown provides a place for work, home, playing, and relaxation. The Roppongi area is adjacent to famous international residential, commercial, and business areas such as Minamiaoyama, Akasaka, Toranomon, Azabujuban, Motoazabu, and Nishiazabu. Many foreign companies have gathered here, and it has continually been developing as one of the most prominent business areas in Asia.
The area around Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown is one of Tokyo’s trendiest districts. Both buildings are mixed-use multi-complex structures and are widely known as the largest redevelopment properties in Japan. Many foreign corporations have their head offices in these buildings. Adjacent to Roppongi Hills, the redevelopment project known as "Roppongi 5-chome West District Redevelopment" or "Roppongi Hills 2" has announced its opening in 2030, making this area even more captivating and eagerly anticipated. This area serves as an international business district during the daytime and as an entertainment district at night. You can enjoy international cuisine such as Thai and Indian foods, as well as kebab from street vendors. Furthermore, popular hotels, bars, and clubs are scattered throughout the area, attracting many people.
The area around Roppongi-Itchome Station is an international business area. Located at the center is ARK HILLS, Izumi Garden Tower, and ARK HILLS Sengokuyama Mori Tower. Further redevelopments, such as the recently built ARK HILLS South Tower and the new Izumi gardens 2, are to be expected. The area is adjacent to Akasaka with its collection of foreign embassies.
Though many of the residential districts surrounding Roppongi Station are close to the main streets, they are still able to maintain their quiet residential atmospheres. As many of the inhabitants of these residential districts are foreigners, a strong international atmosphere can be felt here. The number of detached houses in the Roppongi area has been dwindling as they are being replaced by many condominium apartments. Recent developments including some high-rise, luxurious condominium apartments reflect the latest trend in this area, there are also many luxury rental apartments for expats.
The Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and the Toei Oedo Line, and many public bus routes provide excellent access to many destinations within and outside of Tokyo from Roppongi.
